about Lesley

I grew up in a small town in Ontario, Canada. Since I was little girl, I had a passion for health and cooking. I always believed myself to be health conscious as I tried to keep my high processed foods to a minimum and cooked with coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil. I tried to eat low carb, low fat dairy and lean meats thinking this was the way to good health.

Being a girl, I thought it was normal to get strong menstrual pains and PMS. I’m sure many girls can relate. My pain lead me to see a specialist where I was diagnosed with PCOS, fibroids and endometriosis.

I never knew it was preventable.

When I was pregnant with my 3rd daughter in 2013, my blood work came back that I had high cholesterol. This scared me very much because I had been told that high cholesterol ran in my family and I even had an uncle that passed away recently because of it.

I never knew that this preventable either.

Many people believe that chronic conditions including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hormonal imbalances, PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, infertility, poor functioning thyroid, skin conditions like acne, eczema and psoriasis, and many other health conditions are irreversible and non preventable but what most doctors don’t tell you is that they most certainly are. The problem where the health system goes wrong is not training our doctors in nutrition because that is where our health depends on most. The food you put in your body can either harm you or heal you.

I found the plant based lifestyle in early 2014 and have healed my health condition immensely in just this short time. My hormonal imbalance that was causing me to have PCOS, fibroids and endometriosis has finally become normal and I'm also proud to say that I no longer have high cholesterol.

My Goal is to spread the very important message that food should not be about calorie restricting and deprivation. That you really can eat until you are satiated and you never need to feel guilty about the foods you put in your body.  It’s really not about how much you eat, but what you eat. Carbs are really not your enemy; they are your life line. Stick to Low Fat, Plant based meals and you live an abundant, Healthy life!
